Edison's Song Reviews: Week One

Although I have heard this song before, I’ve decided to do a little research on its background before getting into listening to the song for this review. Thinkin Bout You is a song by Frank Ocean, an artist I admittedly don’t know much about. I’m most familiar with his songs Lost, Pink + White, and Slide with Calvin Harris. I have positive opinions on all three, so it’s no doubt that I have high hopes going into Thinkin Bout You.

Thinkin Bout You is an incredible song from start to end. Before listening, I couldn’t remember much after the first verse, so the higher pitched vocals on the chorus caught me entirely off guard, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing honestly. It changes up the song a little and gives it a new flavour that I don’t think would’ve been as great if he had a guest artist on the chorus. Frank’s voice is super smooth as I’ve always known it to be. The mixing on this is also really nice complimenting Frank’s voice and gives the song a pleasant feeling the whole time.

After doing some research, 'Thinkin Bout You' was the first single from his 2012 album 'Channel Orange.' He had originally written the song for someone called Bridgit Kelly, but decided to release his own version after a demo leaked. The song is about still having romantic feelings for a past lover - something I'm sure we're all familiar with...
